2115/10/12 first technician's log :: 61 cygni e mining station // over the past few hours system outages have reached catastrophic levels. 90% of our memory units have become corrupted and we have to constantly reassign the remaining ones to keep critical infrastructure online. quantum engineering has come up with a new theory about the system failures: they claim that the vast europium deposits we have been mining weren't of natural origin after all, but rather an alien supercomputer. they say it could be an entirely digitised civilisation, infecting our quantum computers with its algorithms. by now i’m willing to believe anything, as long as we are able to stop and revert the process. i have started backing up data to analog polymer just in case we don't.

2115/10/15 first technician's log :: final entry // system infrastructure has collapsed, life support is shutting down. i don't think we can turn this around. i will load the data polymers into the escape pod. may they save someone other than us. #(__$/"%_ *** qbit memory corrupted *** EOF
